Hi we hired a driver that we could trust,(knew though a friend) left Legian at 2am, arriving at the base at 4am, we then with the help of our driver hired 2 guides to take us up. go to the little office at the base to hire your quide I think it is 3people per guide.
You do need runners, the trek is soooooo worth it, make sure you get there for the sunrise.
It is hard but we took kids between 12 and 14 and my over weight hubby made it.
