Even if something is true it can be defamation if it was said to damage someone. Also under Indonesian law it's up to you to prove that something is actually true. How do you prove that the hotel is actually responsible for the theft? The hotel may say the person was mistaken, they didn't actually have the money in there etc. How do you actually prove it when it is one person's word against another? If you can't prove it beyond doubt then you don't have a defence.
Indonesia's internet defamation laws are going to get even tougher this year. People who run discussion boards like this one are going to have to take a long hard look at their rules to protect themselves from criminal defamation charges if people post uncomplimentary things on them about Indonesian businesses.
