I find it much harder to bargain there as well. The ladies in the Melasti Street ones seem a bit more amenable (perhaps desparate is the better word?) to make a sale.
I also bought some at Laba Laba in Double Six Rd - Nyoman(lady) always gives me a good price there, and have been buying from them for a number of years now. They have nice skirts too.
In fact, ALL of the Market style shops in 66 Rd, are very well priced, and it's still the best place to buy your sarongs & scarves, even though the "mix" of shops have changed alot from 10 yeasr ago.
Also, the boutique shops will often give you 10% discount if you buy a few items, amd Silver Shells jewellery and Farfalla shoe outlet are also worth a visit. Mention Joanna from B Design and you might get a litle bit more off. Better still, visit Joanna's shop B Design in Double 6, then you are telling the truth. She has gorgeous jewellery too, so a visit there is a MUST!!
I WAS SURPRISED WHEN YOU SAID YOU HAD PAID MORE, AS I KNOW THAT YOU HAVE BEEN A FORUMITE FOR MANY YEARS, SAME AS ME, ALTHOUGH I DON'T POST MUCH THESE DAYS - MORE OF A "LURKER".
Cheers. Adrienne
