Returned on Friday evening.1st visit back to Bali after a 7 year absence.
Found the Tuban area quite upmarket & the Seminyak area similar to the original Bali I remembrered.
Flew AA Perth/Bali/Perth for $198 & had no problems with either Flight.
Stayed at Febris for the 1st week. Good location in Tuban. A Tuban branch of Minis had the coldest beer in Bali. ( It is located approx 75mtrs left as you leave the hotel.)
Had a ground floor room which was pretty nice, quite large bedroom & bathroom. The breakfasts were standard but good value for the price. The Febris has a nice pool but there is absolutely no shade. No umbrellas & very little folage on the surviving trees.

Quite a few of the guests seem to be Aussie Rupah Billionair Bogans/Boganets & both sexes were very loud & included the F & C words constantly as they shouted to each other in the pool. For this reason & the lack of pool shade I would not return to the Febris.
In the 1st week we mainly shopped at the Dept Stores ( Matahari & smaller specialty Brand stores in Tuban & Robinsons & Tiara Dewa in Denpassar )

Week 2 we spent at The Kumala Panti in Seminyak. I was VERY impressed with this hotel. It is located direcly across from the small road running by the beach. The breakfast area is opposite the beach & has heaps of shade. Breakfast option were excellent & the restaurant was very poular at night. This road is closed to car traffic at night which allows you to safely walk along the road & check out the many restaurants close to the hotel. We sampled about 5 of the restaurants close to the hotel & all were good ( Ie. Zanzibar, Blue Ocean Tehor Bali? )
We found the style of shops in the area was the more traditional smaller style. My wife bought quite a few Sundresses for 40,000rp each.
Again we were lucky to have a ground floor room in Y Block ( Older Block) overlooking the larger of the 2 pools. Both the room & bathroom were large. Both pool areas were nice but I preferred the one by the older blocks as this area seemed to get a nice breeze. Both pool areas had heaps of Shade & Sunlounges.
Luckily we seemed to have left the Bogans/Bogets in Tuban & our fellow guests were normal Aussies & quite a few Italians.
Looking forward to returning to Bali but will make sure we go in the dry season as the humidity was pretty exhausting this trip.
