Booking a room on Lombok

Hi,
We have been to Bali 12 times and will be there again next month. We have never done Lombok and I would like to spend a night there. We are a family of 4 (2 teenage kids).

I have some questions:

1. Where's a good place to stay for the 1 night to get a good feel for Lombok.

2. What's the best way to book a family room (or 2 rooms) there ?? (We normally just roll up to the hotels when we travel around Bali).

3. What's the best way to book the airfares from Denpasar ??
