than in Australia.

I am not trying to justify pricings as I still believe that there are many great properties at reasonable prices in Bali.

If you look at a similar-sized hotel of equivalent level operating in Australia, the staff ratio Bali/Australia would be at least 3 to 1 - often higher.

The resort of which I was General Manager in North Sulawesi had 14 rooms/bungalows with a maximum 34 guests. We operated the resort with 55 Staff (was fully self-contained generating own electricity etc) and the Dive Operation had an additional 28 staff.

Before you attempt to compare staff/operational costs between Bali - in fact most places in Asia - and Western Countries, please be aware of the facts.
