Our extended family consisting of 6 Adults and our 2 grand-daughters 4& 5 years and 2 grandsons 4&6 months left Melbourne at 6.35PM for Bali on a Jetstar direct flight arriving on time approximately 9.45PM in Bali. The flight was comfortable and uneventful and the little ones coped well with their colouring books (the girls). We were through customs within 20 minutes and met by the transfers from Santika Beach Hotel where we stayed for 2 nights before going across to our private accommodation just North of Sanur. Had booked 4 premiere rooms with wotif and itravelindonesia but were upgraded to 3 garden bungalows and 1 suite which we were very happy with except for garden bungalow no. 135 which smelt of mould. They had an outdoor shower and this one was very mouldy and the smell was being sucked in by air conditioning I think. This was not my room and by time I realised it was the day we were leaving but did let the reception know so hopefully they will fix the problem. Our stay here was superb-very quiet and gorgeous gardens-would definitely reccommend.Staff were lovely.Weather was extremely humid so spent a lot of time in the pool.We did take a taxi over to Denpasar to Tiara Optical to get some prescription glasses but found that they were not all that cheap compared to Australia going through Private Health Insurance extra's and the cheaper ones had plastic lenses so will not do that again. Also did a little shopping but mostly enjoyed the Santika. We had an evening meal at Gumpy's in the air conditioned room.Nothing to rave about and fairly expensive for all 8 of us that were eating but pleasant in the air conditioning. Realised after we left that I had left my favorite calculator there so next morning called in as I was passing and was amazed that it had beed found ,recorded in a book with our table no. and put in manager's safe. How honest is that!! Our children bought some children's clothes, found a favorite shoe shop they purchased from a few years ago next to Matahari and bought the usual Dvd's. As this was our 5th trip the shopping has worn off a bit and we were here mainly for R & R.
Next stop- Private accommodation North of Sanur for 5 nights then a stopoff for a few days in Perth on the way back to Melbourne.
