in April this year. We had a car, however my brother who arrived a few days prior to us didn't. He would just call a blue bird taxi. They usually only took 10 or so mins to arrive. A lot of expat's live in and around the area. It's very quiet, but still close to seminyak (only a 5 or so mins car/taxi ride). There are more and more taxi's in the area now.
Where we stayed there was a minimart very close by and a bakery. Up on JL Cangu there are loads of minimarts, service stations etc. The Cangu club was close by as were the stables (food and setting is lovely). On the same road as the stables were some very cheap massage places, they will also come to your villa for a lot less than you pay in Seminyak.
