We stayed at Umulas for a few days. We were reasonably close to Petitenget so walked there a couple of times to restaurants, but got a taxi back. You really need transport in and out though. If there are any shops, servos or whatever within walking distance we didn't see any. Seminyak is about 5-10 minute drive. Nothing really.
It's quite rural, which is pleasant in one respect but of course boundaries can be residential so you can be alongside families, which means cocks crowing, children crying etc.
One good thing is the Lestari restaurant at the riding stables - but of course you can go there any time. We went and ate at the wonderful places on Petitenget.
