I am going in September to try and miss the crowds.
There is a bus/boat trip to the gilis from Bali run by the Perma group and it costs 350,000 IDR one way and takes around 8 hours plus.
Or a fast speedboat from Benoa Bali that takes around 2.5 hours and costs around 750,000 IDR one way.
You can buy a ticket anywhere in Kuta Bali.
The Perma boat will drop you off at Gili Trawangan (most popular) Gili Meno or Gili Air.
Because they are becomming so popular accomodation rates have gone up quite a bit.
