Would definitely recommend a cooking class. Another poster mentioned Janet DeNeefe's cooking school. Janet also has a book called Fragrant Rice - lovely "positive" read, which would also be lovely to read whilst in the actual environment it was written in. She is an Aussie who married a Balinese man many years ago - gives a good insight into all the rituals from birth to death etc. (I have just read it for the second time as I will be staying at her guesthouse and attending her cooking class in April). She owns the Honeymoon Guesthouse in Ubud.
PS: What a fortunate sister to have someone like you to organise this for her. Pity you can't talk her into more than 4.5 days - I have a feeling she will just be getting to the stage where she thinks she deserves the pampering (and therefore can fully relax and enjoy) and it will be time to come home.
