I dont know Padangbai very well, but I would be surprised if one of the hotels there doesnt have family accom. Anyway, a little further up the coast is a small village called Jasri,we called in here on a surfing "expedition" once. There was a place called Villa Irene, and if you want to get right away from it! you might want to have a look (on web). Then heading further north you get to Candi dasa, again small and quiet in comparison to the major tourist areas, however a huge range of hotels. Further north again, you get to Amed, beachfront hotels like "Life in Amed' real adventure for kids.great snorkelling too
