My first JBR so hope it isnt too boring. Happy to answer any further questions anyone may have as I was able to get a lot of info from BTF before our departure.
Flew with hubby and 16 yo son with Garuda from Sydney to Bali and return. Both legs of the trip departed and arrived on time and without any hassle whatsoever.
We had organised for VIP VOA on arrival and this was well worth the small amount of money that it cost. Also had arranged for private car transfer on arrival and was glad we did this one also. Although I know alot of people don't bother but from my viewpoint it worked well for us.
We stayed 9-23 January at the Bali Dynasty in a Pool View Room. Location of this hotel was great. Seemed to be a very popular spot if you had younger children. The hotel had a free shuttle bus which passed through as part of the 'fun in sun' promotion but you could not always be guaranteed a seat and to be honest we didnt mind the walk up to Kuta and back (good exercise to walk off indulgence in cocktails and the fab food on offer).
We ate some nights in the hotel, room service once, and dined quite a bit at Il Celio which is directly across the road. Also ate at the Thai across the road but couldnt say I was that impressed with the service or food.
Shopped in fixed price shops at Diane's, Jenny's and favourite was Ketut's. Purchased many bags from Yosha's. Pre ordered our DVD's before departure. All recommendations thanks to other members on BTF. Shopped also at brand name shops, Matahari's and Bagus Watches. Used Sweet Tailor for suits. Changed money at kodak shop near Dynasty and shopped in the mini market next door for bintang, water etc.
Enjoyed 2 fabulous days of touring to Elephant Park, Ubud, Temple, Volcano etc etc. Just loved driving through the beautiful country side.
Used the spa vila at Dynasty and enjoyed manicure and pedicure there also as well as at back of hotel along the beach.
We all had an absolutely fabulous time and of course like everyone else cannot wait to go back for more shopping, relaxation, pampering and enjoying the company of the locals.
Used Dewi lounge on departure at airport. I am happy to share any information if anyone wants further detail from above. But thankyou to all on the forum for advice and information.
