I've been here so far for 8 months on a multiple entry/exit Retirement Visa. Did NOT have to hire Indo staff as a prerequisite (but did anyway) and do not need an Indo spouse. Also have special NPWP (tax card) which allows me to submit only one "Nil" tax return each year. I have this to avoid the 2.5 million rupiah FISKAL departure tax each time you leave the country. The immigration agent can legally sponsor you for a Retirement Visa.
At the time I came here, 12 month Multiple Entry Business Visas were very hard to get. However, my friend has just arrived here to live, and she is obtaining a MEBV without any problems. No NPWP required, no tax returns to do, no FISKAL, no sponsorship required. And cheaper than a Retirement Visa. When I renew, I'll be doing the same thing.
