The parade the night before was fantastic the years I saw it, there are also local beach market on Kuta beach the morning after. We watched the parade down near Kuta Beach Markets. But be aware you may have to walk home in the dark but it wasnt that scary there were heaps of people around.

Also three days before (I think) they celebrate Melasti with a ceremony down on the beach at Kuta. I think they do at Legian but its huge at Kuta and it was just lovely to see.

I know a lot of people poo poo the idea of a day of silence, or confined to their hotel, but I enjoy my own company and can easily handle a quiet day. One year though it ended up with 8 hours in the pool laughing and yakking (quietly) with other guests, a most enjoyable day.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did ... I will get back for another nyepi one day.
