First tip, have a very good time....it's easy to do.
The time in Bali is the same as the Perth clock, so that would be 3 hrs behind you in Sydney.
The length of flight you should be able to work out from your ticket, now knowing its 3 hrs time difference - I'm not sure how long it takes from Sydney.
Take minimal clothes, sunscreen, sunnies and hat, lots of money to shop with and an open mind with a happy attitude and you'll have a great time..guaranteed.
For surfing..Ulawatu area has lots of good surf beaches (south of island)
Try balivilla dot com dot au for great villa, will sleep 7.
