Puri Raja - Bintang Bob was correct!

In October Bintang Bob advised on this forum that PR was 'full of beer-swilling yobbos' - or words to that effect. How right he was! Despite finding the hotel quite presentable (though not comparable to Kumala Pantai in most ways), the staff friendly and the rooms adequate (bathrooms much better than KP's) we found the whole vibe of the pool area was spoiled by young Aussies who spent most of the day drinking. The complete lack of 'duty of care' for these young people on behalf of the hotel staff was deplorable; no-one was refused alcohol despite some being obviously under-age (15 years in one particular case) and extremely intoxicated.

It is really an Australian hang-out. The only persons who were not Australians that we met during our 7 days there were from South Africa. I could have stayed home and gone to Rottnest Island if I'd wanted to holiday with inebriated Aussies!

Ah...thank heavens for the lovely Tegal Sari in Ubud where we spent our second week. Delightful, friendly, polite and non-intrusive staff. Other guests included English, American, Canadian, Kiwis, Japanese, Singaporeans and French as well as the ubiquitous Aussies (God love us!). TS still as wonderful as ever; despite our 4 year break - can't wait to return.
