helenb - go to my post yesterday - more info. this site has info on local boats etc. and you are missing out on a great place if you do not take the time to visit. You can sit at the Lembongan Reef or Ware-Ware restaurants and dine at very reasonable prices and look across to Bali. Both areas are nice. If you want the Beach with day trippers go the Mushroom Beach, but Jungutbatu to sit at the pool
and watch the boats, seaweed farmers etc. Tanis is set back just off the beach but in a good spot. The pool area is nice and you are almost on the beach and away from a lot of the Bali Hai day trippers.
