I have known them for about 17 or 18 years and I know they had a licence from the military which had been in force for a long time.
It was a supossedly 20 yr lease and they had done either 8 or 12 years of it (I can never remember which) when the military pulled out and the banjar took over and they immediately got greedier and took their licence away.
And to the best of my recollection susie,if not sammie,was working the beach before then,back then apparently sammie was too shy and didnt have any english at all where susie had picked up a little.
As far as any proof of them being on the beach pre 2002, ask sammie to show you the photo albums and they will prob/possibly have some dates on some pics and there should be some from a NYE party we organised with them for BTF members,and others of course, and there was around 150 people there and i believe that was NYE 2000 and was at their present location,ok to be pedantic they were closer to the tree lol.
