I know you are hesitant to go on your own, but believe me the first time I went in 2005 I felt the same. I had planned a trip with my sister, and she dipped out. I had never been out of Australia before but I decided that I wanted an adventure and am now about to head off on my 7th trip on my own. I am so glad I did it. I just love going back to Bali and usually spend 6-8 weeks in Aug/Sept and am heading off again on 24 December for 3 weeks. Ultimately it will be up to you, but there is so much to do and see in Bali that you will have a wonderful time. Just don't stay in your room, even if you just go walking on the beach. There is so much to see and people are so friendly. Good luck on whatever decision you make.
