In the past we have only gone for a week at a time and without kids so I have taken cash and used card at the end when I run out. This time though we are there for 2 and a half weeks and as a result the amount is significantly more and we will be juggling luggage/pram/travel docs etc.
Worst case I'm comfortable with the $50 or whatever in ATM fees but would rather avoid them of course :) this is why I'm hoping we can withdraw over the counter
