Worked remotely from Bali twice this year and back again this Sunday.
Telkomsel do have 3G but to be honest it's pretty patchy in most areas, though GPRS is fairly reliable. Good enough for a phone but wouldn't want to use my computer over it.
Best idea would be to use wifi at your hotel or find one that's fairly fast in a cafe/Internet cafe. Not sure where you're staying but I've always found ESC/Skygarden in Jalan Legian nice and fast.
