I have been staying at the Jayakarta for the last 8 years and have used the safety deposit boxes everytime I stay there I leave all my money, passport and travel docs. You have one key and they have a master key and the box can only be opened with both keys. They do not hold copy keys and if you lose one it is $US150 for a new key. I have never had anything go missing from my deposit box.
