We stayed at the Padma late Oct / Nov this year after being moved from the Mandira which was overbooked. On the day we left our friends were moved back to the Mandira (they were staying longer than us) and were upgraded to a courtyard room as compensation for the stuff up.

Their room was decorated in a Japanese / oriental style, split level and although it was nice it was quite small (long and narrow). The courtyard had an outdoor bath and shower but it was fully enclosed and quite warm in the morning sun. I though it was a bit claustrophic and would much prefer a balcony and a view - last year we stayed in the superior rooms at the Mandira and had great views over the hotels beautiful gardens. Not sure about the pool villas.

Overall the Mandira is a great hotel right on the beach and the pool and lounge area at the front is a great place to laze around, the breakfasts are great and the hotel is within walking distance of a number of good restaurants and shopping which was a bonus as trying to get anywhere in a taxi was horrendous due to the traffic.

Any more questions please feel free to ask.

Carol
