As my husband always says, the Balinese don't want to disappoint you until the last possible moment so even if that means not telling you the correct info, they'll do that until they no longer can disappoint you.
Last March I took a group of ladies to Kori's in Legian. I had told all the girls how wonderful their chocolate martinis were so when I booked via email I asked them to confirm that they still served chocolate martinis. I knew there was an alcohol shortage in Bali so just wanted to make sure they were prepared for my group and if they needed specific booze, we'd bring it.
I re-confirmed this a few days again before our dinner and then again when we arrived at the restaurant. After dinner, everyone (15 of us) ordered chocolate martinis. We had been looking forward to them all night. Upon ordering them the waiter looked at us very sadly and announced that they didn't have the proper ingredients due to the alcohol shortage.
We all had a good laugh and ordered more Bintang!
