are usually with an extra high desk and they drop a note after counting the full amount. Any extra high counters should be a dead give away to stay away.
another is to try and replace notes with smaller denomonations (i.e. 10000rp instead of 100000Rp and as they are similar colour it can fool easilly.
They also use lots of notes and generally dont have the bigger currency available. (i.e wanting to give you 20000Rp notes)
All these tricksters will usually not have an authorised number on their currency sign out the front, also if you catch them out they will then say "sorry sorry" and then try to give you the correct exchange rate with a hefty commission on it.
Again stay away from money changers that dont have a number on their board, ALWAYS recheck and count your money making sure you are the last to touch it, stay away from high counters/desks as these are dead give away that they are shonky and check you have the right number of 00000's on your notes.....
