I must say the grounds at the Jayakarta are beautiful. We stayed in a privately owned apartment in Block B Club bali suites and we didn't find the walk to the pool any great distance. We made sure we had packed all the necessities before we left the room so we didnt have to go back and forth too often.

Jayakarta was full to capacity and very busy around the pool, but did manage to find a pool lounge most days. Visited Frank's Bar on the beach each afternoon for a few bintangs and to watch the sunset. What a great bunch of guys running this place and the bongo drum playing is so entertaining. It was packed out each night!!

We never had a bad meal and the restaurants we went to included

BREAKFASTS
Zanzibar, blue ocean and our favourite was Tommy's.

LUNCH AND DINNERS
Seaside, Zanzibar,Sheppy's, Uncle Norms, Billy's, Wayan and Friends, Mozzarella, Warung 96, Tubes, La Monde and Patricks Warung. As a family of 4 with 2 girls aged 10 and 12 our dearest dinner including drinks and bintangs was $37 aussie dollars, unbelievable!!

For those of you that used to go to Dolphin restaurant in garlic lane, this has been renovated and is now called Garlic Lane Restaurant owned and run by a young balinese guy and his family. We thought we would support it on their opening night and had a bit of fun. lets just say that it was a little chaotic on first night, but it was their first night and the food was good and cheap. The waiters however, had trouble understanding english which was a little frustrating. It took nearly 20 minutes to get the bill as they had mixed up bill 1 and bill 2.

I am sure it was just 1st night jitters, so if you do come across this restaurant give it a go as they are really nice people and I am sure the service should improve as time goes by.

Best cappucino I had in my opinion was probably at Zanzibars. I did try the Coffee shop at melati apartments but no good (maybe an off day)

cheers

kathy
