Last June coming back to Perth from Bali on Virgin there was a very small kiosk adjacent to the entrance to the boarding area, with bottles of cold water prominently displayed. A 600 ml bottle cost heaps, can't remember exact cost but I do remember being stunned.
The bottle of water & I were acquainted for less than a minute as 2 metres away it was confiscated from me and tossed in an almost overflowing bin of similar, expensive, unopened bottles of lovely cold water.
So, that bottle of water travelled 2 metres to the entry to boarding and then 2 metres back to the kiosk, along with dozens of its mates. No doubt a trip they had all done many times before at great profit to all concerned. Apart from thirsty travellers.
