Have never stayed at Griya, although have walked through, swum in the pools, eaten at the restaurant and the beach is also lovely out the front.
Besakih I have stayed in at least 30 times, the gardens are beautiful, the staff lovely, rooms ok (not modern or marble and bathrooms very basic) how much time do you spend in your room???, but there is something about this hotel that brings us back over and over again. The pool hanging over the footpath, the people on the beach, sitting in the gardens, talking to the turtles in the pond (a lot of people save their bacon and give them a little bit), they have their own resident dog, some people call it "Skippy" and others "Betsy", you can pick up clean towels from the laundry, no "pool nazis", free ice from the machine (near the laundry), iced water put in your room each morning, ice from near the icemaker near the laundry, there are so many little things that add up to make this hotel one worth going to. Also most of the people who stay here keep on coming back each year or sometimes twice a year. I have been at Besakih twice in 2009 and have 2 bookings already for 2010.
