I realize that only a small % will be interested, but I thought I would post this anyway, as the various subjects have been raised in the past on this forum.
Flight from Hedland landed at 14. 40 and surprise surprise, we were through customs and immigration in 1 ¼ hours instead of the normal 2. Air Asia left Bali at 19.15 on time (no problem with leg space as we have pre booked row 14, the emergency exit row) and landed at 22.00hours. Took 5 minutes to clear customs etc (Bali take note) We could see the Tunes Hotel across the other side of the car park and headed off for it. There was a queue to check in and that took a good 30 minutes. The room consists of a comfortable double bed and that's it!! Its very awkward to negotiate between the bed and the wall if your bag is anywhere on the floor. (Now I know how superman must get changed in a telephone box.) Got to bed at midnight and our alarms went off at 04.00 to get to the air port for 4. 30. Our Air Asia flight left at 6.30 on time and we landed at 8.50am on time. Breezed through customs in a couple of minutes (again Bali take note; this is what you are up against competing for the tourist $$)
Footnote 1 Our hotel had sent transport to pick us up, but Hanoi is having a crackdown on illegal taxi drivers and our driver was mistaken for one. After 30 minutes of curbside interrogation by the local baton wielding police, we were off, or so we thought. We got as far as the local police station and that's were sat, in the back of the car with the air con running while the driver explained himself inside to the police, and all the time we kept thinking; couldn't we just slip the copper rp100,000 and we will be on or way!!!!
Footnote 2 Sign in the hotel lift in Hanoi. Maximum people 9 or 600kg. They are obviously not Aussies then at that weight!!!!!
