Just got back from a 5 night mini trip to Ubud.A very smooth flight with Jet*, although customs confiscated the camembert component of our picnic as it could be used to make bombs!! Used the VIP VOA service rec by Dennis, and judging by the lines, saved ourselves a couple of hours at least...the airport was packed! Our driver was waiting and checked into our hotel an hour or so later...
Stayed at the Komaneka at Bisma in Ubud...A bit spendy but you definitely get what you pay for...amazing jungle views and a pool to die for...def no pool hogs here he he he ..
Did absolutely nothing for the duration, but motorbike around the countryside, and eat...Ubud is so much more laid back than the madness of Kuta, I will never stay in the beach areas again.
Fave eateries this time were;
Cafe des Artistes- great food and service, very reasonable prices. Can really rec a Sth African wine called Pearly Bay SSB which is on sale in a few places and normally under 300,000.
Tropical Bale- again the food was great, but again we were the only people there.....was nice sitting and watching the downpour however...
Lamak- great food, and amazing Margheritas...
Kafe- sh*te service, slow wifi...
Tutmaks- best coffee
Cintas- great mojitos...my fave waitress seems to have departed though boo hoo
Fukutaro at the airport is great for Japanese food as well...
Ryoshi- had lunch there, and it was better than I remembered...
All in all a perfect mini break, any questions please ask..
Oh noticed on the way back that the Jet* seats and configuration are murder for taller people....Customs were efficient, especially as I didnt buy anything!! A record for the BTF methinks.
