One of our dogs turns out to be related to a Japanese breed (looks like a fox), if you have one of those Bali dogs their fur has a waterproof coating which means that you should never bath them unless they get themselves into a mess or go in the ocean (then only a slight rinse of the salt water, don't use shampoo). If you have one of these Bali dogs and don't know it you may be washing the dog which can cause it to lose it's hair and scratch it off. We had no idea that our Bali pup was related to a Japanese breed until a Japanese vet was visiting our neighbourhood so we learn't all about our little "Bali/Jap" dog (none of our vets or BAWA knew anything about this and always said wash the dog). The dog is a Sesame color, has a white chest a big tail like a fox and could be mistaken for a fox at night I suppose. If you do have one of these, do not wash it (they stay amazingly clean and actually groom themselves similar to a cat), if you don't have one of these then you have an expensive dog like one of our pups we have since found a home for. Good luck!
