We work in a small remote village in the North and we go through a lot of cats, sounds terrible but we will show up and a staff member will say "Cat Dead" and we will ask what happened and get a graphic explanation of what the cat looked like dead but not how it died, we will then ask where the body is and be told the dogs must have eaten it. We also had one litter disappear while weren't there to be told they had taken them up to the top of Kintamani to drop them over the top for the crater gods. Different villages have a different way of doing things. Our villagers don't think of cats as anything but noisy and there to catch mice, I know because we have 6 hiding out in our office at present, and 3 kittens in the roof which will stay there until we can find them a home.

Dogs in the village are considered demons and should be feared as well as respected for what they are. Dogs are used for new temple sacrifices, actually the opening of any new building such as a major hotel etc (this is something kept from the tourists, sorry I just ruined that one for you as all the hotels you stay in have done this, one Pig, one dog, one duck and one chicken must be sacrificed at the opening for good luck) and when a dog has its puppies it means money for the family as the dogs in our village are all Kintamani dogs, very beautiful fluffy pups that they can sell at about 3 weeks up the top for 100,000rp each.
