dogs and rabies

my family and i are off to bali next week (first timers) and i just saw a post on the forum about rabies.

Just wondering if anyone has had a problem with dogs whilst on holiday in bali, is there any particular place to avoid.

also i am wondering if me and my family need to vaccinated against rabies as my doctor didnt warn us about it, he gave us flu shots, tetnus and hepA
