A lovely JBR which brought back memories of Singaraja Market a couple
of years ago. It's an experience that I will always treasure.
I drove straight up to Lovina from the airport and was absolutely
knackered when I got there at 7.15pm. Thought I'd have a five minute poppa nap and woke up at 4.15 am in desparate need of a feed. Hopped in the car, buggar all doing in Lovina so I went through to Singaraja and followed the traffic which finished up at the traditional market
where there was a great mob of locals with their produce, fruit, rice
and veggies on the shoulder on barrows, bikes,in cars, vans, utes and
buses waiting for the rear gates to open at 5 am. Outside the gates there were 3 steps up to a very small warung where I had the best breakfast I'd ever had, fried bananas and Bali coffee. I'd thrown out
Om Swasti Astu's and Rahajung Samung's to one and all and the response
was just so friendly. The questions came to me left right and centre
in rapid fire and I was in some difficulty with the language. This Holy Man rocks up,is treated with absolute respect, blesses us all and then acts as interpreter after which I am given a guided tour of the market and introduced to just about every stall holder. Probably
doesn't sound too exciting but it is an experience I will never forget and always cherish. Only in Bali eh ? Can't help but love the place. Got to do Singaraga Market early a.m. again and I will.I'll put money on it that someone will say " Back again."
