Hi,
We went to bali in August 2009 with our 3 kids and our friends had 3 also, we stayed at the Dynasty. I can recommend the Green Garden resturant, on same side of road as Dynasty about 300 metres up towards Kuta square, also further up from that again is the Warun Batan they have a good range of kids meals. We celebrated my sons 13th Birthday at Bubba Gumps and they might him fel like a star, expensive we paid $140AUD for 6 of us dinner and drinks. The Pantai resturant is also good, hit the beach behind the Dynasty and walk 5 mins towards the Airport you will find it on your left hand side. At all these resturants except Bubba's you can expect to pay approx 30,000rup for a kids meal and 10,000 for soft drinks.
Activities - Waterbom is a must kids loved it, we also did Safari Park, again expensive for Bali but an awesome day. We also took them White Water Rafting they were still smiling and laughing about it a week later. Going to take them to Taro Elephant Park and Quad biking next trip. Depending on the age of your kids, the water sports ie. banana boat rides & parasailing and Tanjung Benoa would alos be great.
Shopping - My kids loved the shopping, Carrefour & Mataharis is good, we found the DVD shop on the ground floor at Discovery to be about the best for Wii Games and DVD's & the one at the Minimart next door to the Dynasty. Kids also loved Geneva which is a Wholesaler is Kuta - a must do especially for homewares etc.
Money exchange - We changed all our money at the Kodak shop next door to the Dynasty never had any problems.
I hope this helps, just to give you an idea our kids we 8,11,13 and our friends kids were 11,13,16.
Goodluck and have an awesome holiday.
I also have details for a really good driver, super friendly great with kids. He even taught the kids to speak Indonesian, feel free to ask any questions :) I have left email open
