Villa requests a copy of my passport!!!

Hi guys,
We are booking a villa directly with the villa for November - yeah!! They want 50% deposit via credit card. Ive filled out their request form with all my credit card details but now they say I need to give them a photocopy of my credit card and my passport. Does anyone know if this is normal practice? They say this is to meet their bank's request!

This is what they have sent us

"Ad regarding to the form, we are require for the copy of the credit card and your identity (passport) To process the transaction
Kindly note that this is Bank Policy"

Please Help!!!!
