Below are some notes I've C&P'd from this and another forum

CHEAP EATS
Poppies II - JB's 27 about half way up on the left hand side next to mini mart. Also try the place across from KTH (cant remember the name) very cheap and excellent meal. Don't be afraid to also try some of the local padangs - the look of them may scare you but they are so good.

If you up the beach from the BGH & not far past the Hard Rock, you will see an eating market on the same side. We went there several times on our last visit and found the food really good and relatively cheap. It's probably just over a 5 minute walk and if you've walked to MacDonalds, you've just gone past it. It's almost on the corner of Poppies I. Also, another couple of good, cheap restaurants are Tubes in Poppies II and the restaurant in front of the Tunjung Bali Inn, also in Poppies II.

Tubes is great! probably 1 of my fave places to go... really cheap but good quality meals and lovely staff, just look for the big wave and surf board on the left hand side down Poppies II (coming from Legian street)

the ham and salad rolls at the KTH are huge!! Even my 18yr old son (who is a 2 x footlong at subway) would be filled eating one of these. Home baked and thick sliced ham, whatever salad you want and a beautiful crispy fresh roll approx 8inchs long. I think they are only a few dollars but you wont eat much for a while fterwards. The little restaurant accross from KTH is Tom Yum and its Thai. They are great with very cheap prices(full meal total for 2 cost us $6
)
3. DO stop in at Un's for a frozen margarita. Even if you don't eat there (which you should, coz it's a great place to eat), sit at the bar and order a margarita. I know tequila is not part of the frozen margarita mix, but who cares? The drinks are absolutely delicious - and at 25,000 rp++ they're addictive. It's in the lane that runs between Poppies 1 & Jl Pantai, close to corner of Poppies 1 & Jl Legian. So, starting at Jl Legian walk down Poppies 1 & take the (first?) turn on the left. There is a sign. The food is extra good, excellent value.

Nasi Campur (pronounced champ - ur )
nasi is rice and campur is mixed. Depending on where you get it from you will get an assortment of goodies.
For example I had one at warung yogya today which comes with a bowl of coconut curry vegies, rice, tempe, tofu, sprouts, spinach and chicken.
At Warung ala Asia (which has closed in the last few weeks) I had one which had prawns, calamari, an egg, beef rendang, a piece of fried chicken, sprouts, anchovies, tuna curry and more.
So they are different everywhere, but if you like to try different things then it is a great choice!

The Pantai opposite the Palm (Beach) hotel has good seafood at reasonable prices, we have also had good reasonable priced meals at the Green Garden hotel (near the Dynasty) Map , But your best value meals are around poppies 1 and 2.

Poppies 1,The Gong Near the Kuta town house is the best, Kuta town house also has good Meals at reasonale prices,In poppies 2 , the Taman sari (near the Bagus pub) the Beach cafe and Enhays around the corner in Jl benesari.

These are all popular places that have a good food turnover
However, it was Candika who pulled me to a halt as we walked from Poppies Lane 2 to Poppies Lane 1 along Gang Ronta earlier today. Located on the corner of Gang Ronta and Gang Sorga, Warung Pama is one of those warungs that has everything on offer for the traveller with a menu that is full of yummy, global delights. I say ‘global' because the menu offers such a diverse range of food that it was a pleasant surprise and made a change from the usual run-of-the-mill warung menus.

#TJ's- Poppies 1, Kuta. Mexican. Poppies Lane 1 Kuta 0361 751093 Very hard choosing which of the delicious deserts to have. All the food was great, as was the atmosphere and service. The lounge type chairs are relaxing and comfy if you don't want to sit in regular chairs. 147.000rp)
Great setting with seating either at table or on lounges, one could even class it an intimate setting. Average meal around 50,000. Beautifully presented and delicious. Service was excellent, we thoroughly enjoyed our night here lying back against the cushions, lil lamps provided, and food brought out on a tray you could have on your lap.

Piggy's Bar (information from ad) Poppies 2, Burger Chips and Bintang 45,000. 100% Aussie Beef. PH 754 627
We left Matahari and walked up to Poppies two and grabbed some lunch at Billy's (great hamburgers) (I think it was Billy's).
