Take cash, approx. $100.00 per day per 2 adults, maybe more if your shopper or going to do lots of tours. Place money and passports in safe or safety boxes at hotel. Take $100 out per day and change at money changer in Bali, better rates and no commission. Take a credit card with you in case of emergencies eg. hospital, most will want upfront payment before you get your travel insurance company involved. Take a ATM card for more money if you run out. Be careful your card comes out of machines last in Bali, if you leave your card in the next person can take all your savings out as your pin will already be in there. Your bank in Australia can tell you what fess they will charge you, be careful some charge for withdrawal and exchange of currency. Take US dollars for your Visa on arrival, easier and quicker, flash it about and you may get to front of visa queue as you won't need change. Get US currency from Australia Post, allow 3-5 days, if you get more than you need, no problems as you can still change that in Bali. If you want some rupiahs to start you off, wait til you get to the Denpasar airport and change your first $100.00, the rate won't be as good as the streets but at least you'll have an idea of the money.
