I've not heard of anyone who changes all their money in Oz to Rupiah, I dont think you'd get anywhere near the rate you'll get in Bali on the street. We always take Australian dollars and convert them on the street in Bali. But any cash yes, put into a safety deposit box at your hotel/villa, along with your passports etc. Same with travelling anywhere! :)
