Just got back on tuesday, after 8 days, probably could have done with one more day, just to rest!!! glad the suns out in Perth though, makes coming home easier. Had a great time, had a lot of friends with us so we were busy catching up everyday!!!
The highlight for me, well actually theres a few, The orphanage trip, the afl win, and the fact that its my husbands first trip and he loved it....looking for a hotel for next time.
We stayed at Santika. had a deluxe room, ground floor overlooking the pool. 10 steps to jump in the pool, no pool hogs, plenty of beds, and quiet. The staff where friendly, and quick service. We had a few issues with our key, seven times we left the key in the room and locked ourselves out...that was the first 3 days!!!! don't know why....we seem to manage ok at home.....must have got in relax mode quick!! the only fault I have of the Santika hotel, and why I wouldn't stay there again...the mossie spraying they do every night at 5ish. It came straight in our room and we had to get out couldn't breathe. I ended up with asthma, which I have never had, I'm pretty sure it was the fumes. the chest pain I had was incredible. My son suffers with asthma, so we could never stay there with him. The staff spraying the stuff, wear masks....god knows the damage its doing to there lungs...horrible. We asked for it not to be sprayed near our room, and they obliged, but it was in the air, big clouds. I have heard of other hotels doing this, and next booking I make will be the first question I ask. Having said all that I really loved the hotel, grounds beautiful and peaceful, breakfast was fantastic.
Husbands team, Geelong, that was a highlight, them winning. We watched it at the Kuta townhouse, great day and bonus they won!! I think the ratio of supporters, 1-10 us the minority!! Added bonus....the shirtless Melbourne AFL team....all us girls noticed, thanks guys!!!! Few bintangs and we decided to have dinner at Koris, just the girls, boys kicked on to the wee hours. We had Chocolate Pecan Pie......must try!!! Yep, that was dinner, holiday mode!!! Husband caught taxi home and the driver offered him girl with massage and happy ending!!!! our friends 15yr was offered drinks and magic mushrooms, cheap!!!
both declined....so they tell us!!!!
The day that I will never forget, trip to amuplura orphanage. i had a huge collection of clothing, mostly new, pjs, bras, boxers, books pencils, heaps of stuff. My friend collected bed sheets, again mostly new, every child will have a sheet each. with my donation money, and the help of our friend/driver Yogi, we went shopping at Macro. We purchased 40 toothbrushes, bulk toothpaste, shampoo, soap, noodles, rice, cooking oil, biscuits, lollies and two magic jars... Which thanks to Yogi, I discovered where rice cookers!! The kids where fantastic, so proud of there rooms...very clean. One boy had a broken mirror on his wall, like a bottom corner, we teased him about doing his hair all spiky and cool, he giggled like only the balinese do, precious. Kadek the lady that runs the place, is incrediably nice absolute angel, could all learn from her. Time to go was hard, lots of hugs and kisses, and I cried, because they thanked us and I thanked them, I think I gained more......will go again. The drive up there was beautiful, hills and jungle and ocean it was amazing. Had lunch at the lotus, overlooking the ocean, the best food I had.
Did all my street shopping at Jennys and Diannes,, all fixed price. My friend was bartering her stuff and I was getting it cheaper. No hassling either. You could touch the clothes without having to buy!! Located Across the road from Green Garden hotel, just up from dynasty. We did alot of walking, due to the Ramadang, muslim week celebrations, getting a taxi was easy, getting stuck in traffic for hours was a pain. Lots n Lots of walking. Still managed to gain weight...lots n lots of drinking maybe???
trip home, we were seated at the very back, which I thought would be a pain it was good. First served with lunch, drinks, close to the toilet. Getting of the plane was easier. by time we got to duty free the queue was gone, straight through. Our bags came on the turn together, alone, too easy!!! Perth customs, 45mins, 300 people, 4 staff, yep welcome home!!! Nothing to declare and bags not checked.....straight out bottled water $4.20....should have bartered it down.....outside cold. Still happy to be home......looking forward to next trip.
Thanks to all the supporters for the orphan drive......everyone should go amazing experience. To Barry and Trish......big loves from Kadek, she got a tear in her eye talking about her Parents....bravo to you and all the work you do.....Bagus xx
