We did the Mt Batur Volcano trek in August it was an unreal experience, you leave your hotel at 2am and reach the bottom of the climb at 4am, it is a 2 hour trek and you reach the top for the sunrise. this has been the highlight of the last 5 trips to Bali.
you can book through the tourist booths,but pretty exy, but we booked a driver and then hired a guide when we got there (a guide is needed).
The climb is pretty strenuas and my hubby (47 and 120kg)had a spat when he 1st got there, but so worth the effort. Utube has some good footage. have a great trip. left email open if you have any questions.
