We always take cash. We set ourselves our daily budget and put that amount of cash into an envelope i.e. Monday,etc. Our daily budget is normally $150aud for a family of 2A and 2C. If we have a planned outing that will have a set cost we budget for that on it's own. Grab the envelope each morning from the safe and get it changed. If we dont use an envelope one day it carries over and we put it towards a big dinner on the last night and some extra gifts for our bali friends.
We do take a credit card but have only ever used it as the initial swipe at the hotel. Always end up paying our bill in cash. Some of our left over money can go towards the hotel bill.
