JBR - 12TH Sept - 26TH Sept (Breezes)

Our trip started on Saturday 12th Sept at 4.30am. Arrived at Perth airport by 5.00am to check in for the 7.15am Garuda flight to Bali.
No problem with flight left a little early and arrived on time. Straight thru VOA without a problem, only took about 15-20 mins.
Picked up by our bali friends and straight to The breezes Resort.

The Hotel was great we had room # 1, right next to the pool bar. The room was a little small, but for the 3 of us it was fine.
The pool area was excellent, never seen a pool like this before, 5 layers.
The hotel staff could not do enough for us, they kept my son entertained everyday with different activities. The food at the hotel was excellent and the breakfast was quite good.

Bali was very busy with the end of Ramadan and the traffic was kaos. It was taking us about 30-45 mins to get from Seminyak to Kuta.

We found that the prices had gone up from last time we holidayed in bali (2007), but still a lot cheaper than here in Oz.

Restaurants:
We ate at a few favorites from last time, Indo-national, Stadium Café both good, and tried a few new ones Rumors and The Boardwalk and they were both excellent.

Did the usual shopping for board shorts, tank tops and t shirts.
The wife stocked up on Revlon make-up and Olay.

The weather was strange from last time, getting rain for 3 days in week 2.

The earthquake. I was standing on our verandah when I heard a noise that sounded like a plane going over then the glass doors on the opposite side of the pool started to rattle, then the ground started to shake under my feet. I had to grab hold of the wall to stop from falling over. Then people started to come running from their rooms wanting to know what was going on. Quite an experience.

Had a tattoo done by Wayan (Mr Dolphin - Kuta) great job. They are very busy so if anyone is thinking of having a tattoo done, you need to book in s soon as you can to make sure it can be done.

We had the horror flight home (2.00am) leaving Bali.
We could not get late check out so had to check out of our hotel room by 12 noon, we stayed around the pool until 4.30pm got showered and changed then waited till 8.00 pm to be taken to the airport, we left the hotel a little early hoping we could check our bags in and go up the one of the departure lounges and sit in comfort to wait until 1.30am to board, but we couldn't check our bags in until 11.00pm. We were 15kgs over and were charge $105US for the privilege (my son brought too many clothes).
We didn't end up in one of the departure lounges they were all packed out, so just sat near gate 2 until it was time to board.
The flight home was uneventful got back to Perth on time.
My son bought a wooden drum from Matahari and it was confiscated by quarantine (untreated leather on top) so he was not impressed.

I think I have bored you enough but if you would like any questions answer I'm happy to help.

Regards,
Salty.
