Food is always a highlight of our stay in Bali and this trip was no exception.

Went to our old favourites and we ran out of time to try all of the new ones on my hit-list.
The Champagne Bar on Eat St looks like fun, so that is on the list for next year.

I regularly made bookings for our dinner, because I noticed it was much busier in Bali this trip and I didn't want to miss out on getting into any of our selected spots for the night.

Some of our dining experiences were as follows:

Sarong - Petitenget
We had a sensational dinner with friends.
Started with champagne mojitos - very delicious and expensive, but we all had to have one each. Starter was a chicken salad that I would love to have hogged into myself, but when with friends, I refrained from stabbing them with my fork and stealing the plate for myself - I have learnt to share, but intend to return and sit and enjoy this dish alone in the future.
Massaman beef, rogan josh lamb, rice, naan bread, fish tikka and butter chicken were our mains and they were all 10/10. Quite spicy and delicious. Hubby found it a bit hot, but collectively we all decided it was a top notch meal. Cost including beers was about 1.4 million Rp for 4.

Biku - Petitenget
This was a new one - further north past Sarong.
The high tea is fantastic value for 65,000 Rp; you get your choice of pot of tea and then a lovely 2-tier cake stand, with sweets on the top and cucumber, ham and smoked salmon sandwiches on the lower level (all with crusts removed of course)....very civilised......next time I will go for afternoon tea, when you also get a glass of bubbles too! The setting is in a wooden house with loads of antiques and has a lovely ambience. They did have certain days when you can have your tea leaves read, which sounds like fun too.

LaSal - Jalan Drupadi, Seminyak
A long leisurely tapas dinner washed down with a few carafes of sangria (200,000 Rp per carafe) and some margaritas was a lovely experience. Prawns in truffle oil, chicken croquettes, meatballs, crumbed mushrooms, prawns in tomato sauce, asparagus salad, creamy potatoes......I could go on, but this is making me hungry.
Cost was 1.2 M Rp for 4.

Ryoshi - Jalan Legian, Seminyak
An old favourite - we do enjoy the sashimi here and is fresh every time.
Cost about 200,000 Rp for 2.

Warung Asia - Jalan Werkudara, Legian
Another old favourite for Thai that has been previously recommended on this forum.
We had a power black-out the minute we arrived at the restaurant, but they quickly grabbed a supply of candles and we were in business again, reading the menu with a torch and our newly acquired reading glasses! Green fish curry and thai beef salad were sensational and less than 100,000 Rp for 2.

Café Marzano - Jalan Double Six, Legian
This is a short walk from the villa and we dined here a few times. The wood fired pizzas are delicious - especially the calzone!
Great value and I think cost maybe 150,000 Rp for 2.

Mannekipis - Jalan Raya Seminyak
Another old favourite - this is a Belgium restaurant/jazz bar.
We always head upstairs, I get to sit out on the terrace with a cool breeze and hubby gets to play on a huge snooker table...so we are both happy!
Frogs legs and snails as entrée and then the most divine prawn fettuccini for main....had a fennel and tomato base and I can't wait to have it again.
Cost about 300,000 Rp, including many many bintangs whilst playing pool!

Nest instalment.......bike tour from Ubud
