My experience after having had a few root canals done is that the treatment takes a few weeks and also a few visits to the dentist. The root has to be completely dead and if there has been an ache, it is mostly due to an infection which has to be cured by taking antibiotics over a period of time before the dentist can start filling the root canal and covering it all by a crown or similar.
And, if something goes wrong, there is probably no guarantee if the dental work is done in Bali and absolutely no quick, easy and cheap way to return to the Balinese dentist to solve the problem.
So I would have the root canal done at home rather than risking anything and perhaps even having to redo everything at home. Then it is not cheap anymore.
