This was my experience in July this year.
I had about $700 in USD, the hotels and money changers wont take certain serial numbers and years of print on some notes.
If they do they give you a poorer exchange rate than you should be getting.
Although my notes were from Westpac and not old, ie: 2006 print I had problems.
Some notes were for example "AA1234566" and ok but those strating with "HH1234566" were not.
It cost me about a $100 AUD loss in the conversion if I recall correctly.
So no I wouldnt bother again!
