.... "you don't know how mobile you will be". But you and I both know you are going to try and be as mobile as you can, for yourself and your family. You're in Bali - the temptation will be great. So you struggle with the stairs, just the anticipation of a flight of stairs is unpleasant. You have to keep your head permanently down watching the cracks and for every slight rise and fall in the footpath, you can't risk a fall. You feel tension at the prospect of some journeys, even down to the pool which will add to your muscles tightening and adding to your discomfort. You swallow more than you're ususal amount of painkillers, might numb the pain some but they will also numb your Bali experience. Think about how you feel, the things you dread/fear, the amount of pain you experience and how long it takes to recover from it. Add to this the heat and humidity of Bali. I have been in a "disabled" state and do know from first hand what you are going through and my advice is to wait until you and your family can fully enjoy it as it will drag them down. Sorry, but I am very realistic when it comes to this sort of thing and can see that you try to put on a happy face when you feel the opposite.
