Not sure on your friends budget but the viceroy is very nice - it's about a 10-15 min drive from the centre of Ubud. If that's out of the price range it is still worth going for lunch there at Cascades - it's a beautiful view.
If she prefers to be more "in town" KajaNe is lovely, you would never know that you were on monkey forrest Road, it is so peaceful.
both places have their own private swimming pools.
