Me (7th time), friend - first time, my mum - first time, and my two children (6 & 8 ).
9 nights - Sanura, Ubud and Legian.
2nd part Ubud
I tried and tried and begged to get into Greenfields or Tegal Sari but to no avail. We only stayed one night in Ubud but I wanted my newbies to have a couple of different experiences not just the beach in Bali.
Had Made take us from Sanur to Ubud. Booked two rooms with Asia rooms into Champlung Sari. It is next to the Monkey forest and unfortunately they are adding more rooms and pool etc - excellent view of the construction from our rooms so you can imagine that as soon as I got there I wanted to leave. It's def a 2 - 3 star hotel. Breakfast average, pool area average, rooms okay if you weren't near all the construction, but being there only one night we stayed. The others didn't mind it's all an experience - good and bad. It really opens up your mind when you see these construction workers work for 10 hours a day wheel barrowing the bricks up a hill in the heat. Hard work. My friend said ‘I'll never complain again when I pick up the vacuum to clean'. So true.
Not much to say about out short trip except when I decided to go to our first spa for the trip and we went and got a 'reflexology' (questionable...) and a manicure - it was hilarious..
Pretty dodgy was the place - looked better in the front room. My friend has a lady doing her 'reflexology' - more like a foot massage and I had this large older man. Pretty rough, and commented on my 'hairy legs' and large calf muscles - 'You have lots of support!!' he said - It was so funny. SO after our leg massage we had a manicure where we had to sit forward with our hands (therefore putting pressure back on our feet - so much for the massage!!) the manicure part was okay but then they put one layer on nail polish on sooo slowly and that was it! Looked like crap but didn't ask for any more as it took so long!! Was just happy to be out of there...we laughed all the way back - me using my very large 'supportive' calf muscles ....
The best part of the trip was the monkeys the next morning clambering all over our balconies - stealing my friends lighter and beer bottles. Got some really good photos of the monkeys and it made the stay worth while.
At 10am Made came to take us to 'Jayakarta Private Residence' for out 4 last nights - yeah har !!!
